Jennie Sheffe

Marriage and Family Therapist
specializing in military spouses, couples, and individuals

Jennie Sheffe specializes in EMDR, military spouse therapy and couples counseling

Jennie earned her MA in Marriage, Couple, & Family Counseling from Messiah University. She is a Marriage and Family Therapist and is currently working towards licensure.

Jennie's life experience has supplied her with many opportunities to come alongside others in counseling-type relationships. As an elementary school teacher, she worked to help children strengthen their interpersonal skills and family bonds as part of the learning process, working heavily with parents, too. As a military spouse, she broadened her perspective by experiencing life all over the world for the past 22 years. She has supported other spouses through the challenges of the military lifestyle. As a Christian, she has been involved in helping children, teens, women, and couples through ministries and Bible studies. She has been counseling people all of her life; her graduate level training helped her to enhance her life experience with targeted theory and techniques to become more effective in helping others achieve satisfaction in their lives.

Jennie is passionate about working with women, especially military spouses. She also has a heart for helping couples deepen their relationships. Her approach to therapy is trauma-informed; often early traumatic experiences influence the way we experience ourselves and others in our lives. She leans heavily on Adlerian, CBT, and Solutions-Focused approaches to help people get their thoughts, feelings, and actions working together to move through life in the direction they want to go. She is currently working through the Gottman Level 1 training, which is an effective, evidence-based approach to couples therapy. She has completed weekend 1 of EMDR basic training and is using this highly researched and effective approach to trauma processing with clients.

Jennie comes alongside clients to help them find peace and clarity through life’s struggles; extending hope, validation, and encouragement in the process. She is available for both face-to-face and teletherapy sessions.
