Specializing in teens, young adults, and adults

Joel Covert catching a fish in Pennsylvania; he specializes in kids, teens and individual therapy

Joel Covert earned his M.Ed. in Secondary School Counseling from Shippensburg University, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor.

He has nearly 15 years of experience working with young adolescents, teenagers, college-aged students and young adults around a variety of concerns including relationship issues, grief and loss, anxiety and depression, ADHD, and family conflicts, as well as organization and time management. Joel uses a variety of approaches including, but not limited to, strengths-based and cognitive-behavioral strategies. Within therapy, he believes that the client and counselor relationship is paramount to understanding emotions, feelings, beliefs and behaviors that either inhibit or bring about fullness of living.

Joel has experience in adventure-based counseling and at times encourages clients to take their learning outdoors to discover awareness to see themselves, their beliefs and behaviors in new ways. His hope is that clients will be empowered to find their true identity and live whole and free lives in their relationships, pursuits and places of work.

Joel practices in-person therapy exclusively.
