This is the sixth of our new blog series with profiles of each of our marvelous Sanctuary Christian Counseling therapists. We will run one on an irregular schedule until we hit all of us ... so stay tuned! This one profiles Ashley Gaines, LPC, Sanctuary's children's therapist.

Question: Why did you become a therapist?

Ashley Gaines, Sanctuary's excellent children's therapist

Ashley: I have always enjoyed listening to others and helping them in any way I could. In college I was able to work with some youth in an afterschool program and I saw the need for a therapist to help young people with what they are facing in today’s world. I felt led by the Lord to start a career in Christian counseling where I could bring my faith into practice.

Question: What kind of therapy do you love to do?

Ashley: I am a licensed professional counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor. I see virtual and face to face clients.

Question: Who do you primarily help?

Ashley: I help children up to age 21.

Question: What interests do you have both in the therapy world and outside it?

Ashley: I have a big interest in trauma therapy and I'm taking some different courses this year to learn more about helping children cope with trauma. I also am taking some courses to learn how to help support ADHD/anxiety in the school setting.

Question: Tell us a little about you, personally ...

Ashley: I am a mom of four and enjoy hiking, going to the beach and reading. My husband and I are celebrating our 15 years of marriage this year and are truly thankful for all God has blessed us with.
